Simon Skira has been a tour guide in Morocco for almost 20 years, offering exclusive guided tours and sharing his unparalleled knowledge of the country’s rich culture and the history of its Jewish community.
Simon is fluent in Arabic, French and English. He studied French, management and the history of the Jews of Morocco at Ben Gurion University of the Negev in Beer Sheva, Israel. He was the founding president of the Israel-Morocco Friendship Association in 1996, organizing exchanges visits for delegations from both countries including specialists in the fields of agriculture, medicine and technology.
Based in Paris, Simon lived in Morocco in 2010 for two years, while working on a documentary film about the Jews of Morocco in the years 1948-1968. He was recognized by the French government for his important research on the Jews of Morocco.
Simon has a deep understanding of the fascinating history of Morocco and a strong affinity for the many cultural treasures that are open to visitors to explore. He loves guiding groups around the Souk and helping them to negotiate great bargains with the artisans and stall holders. He cannot wait to share the richness of this wonderful country with first-time visitors to Morocco.
